Shops and Vendors

Gold is only useful when spent, and Shadowrealm has six quite different places to spend it. They are not interchangeable: each solves one problem well and is poor value for everything else. Two further shops take no gold at all, and are covered elsewhere: the Arena Shop trades in Glory and the Shadow Exchange in Renown, both earned by fighting other players.

The Blacksmith

The Blacksmith repairs worn gear, sells equipment forged for the city you are standing in, and strips enchantments for a gold fee. Repair is the reason to visit: gear condition silently reduces the stats your equipment contributes, so repairing is often the cheapest power increase available to a player who has been fighting for a while.

The gear on sale is tied to the city, so the Blacksmith’s stock is a reason to travel rather than a reason to stay. What is available in a higher-rank city is meaningfully better than what your home city offers.

The Potion Shop

The Potion Shop sells instant HP and Mana restoratives and the timed Attack, Defense and Luck elixirs. It is the vendor most players interact with daily, and the one with the tightest rationing: stock refills every 4 hours, caps at 100 units server-wide, and limits any one player to 5 purchases of a given potion per window. You cannot stockpile your way out of a bad run, so buy the reserve before you need it. See Potions & Elixirs for every price and the per-point comparison.

The Reliquary

The Reliquary sells crafting materials outright for gold, at a stock level that thins sharply with rarity: 100 common down to 3 legendary and 1 mythic.

This is the reliable way to finish a recipe you are one material short on. It is a poor way to source materials in bulk, because the thin high-rarity stock means the top tiers run out and you are competing with every other player for them.

The Black Market

The Black Market holds 6 items at a time and turns the whole shelf over every 20 to 28 hours, so what is on offer is luck, but who may buy it is rank.

Its pricing is not one rule but three. Materials carry a 2x multiplier over their base, which still lands them at exactly half the Reliquary's rate. Potions go the other way, at 0.5x the Potion Shop's price, a genuine discount. Gear is priced off its own flat table, listed on the Gear Catalog page, and this is the only vendor that ever stocks mythic gear outright.

So the Black Market is not simply expensive. It is worth checking every time you pass through, because checking costs nothing and the potions and mythic gear are real bargains; it is the one shop where the right answer is to look first and want second.

The Black Lotus Den

The Den sells energy for gold, at 1,000 gold a point by default, and it is the one place in the game where energy can be pushed ABOVE your normal maximum. That overflow is capped at 100 points above your own maximum, and ordinary regeneration leaves it alone rather than trimming you back down.

Because energy is the real limiter on how much you can do per day, this is effectively the exchange rate between gold and progress. Each Den is player-owned and its owner sets the price within fixed bounds, so the rate genuinely differs from city to city and is worth comparing before you buy. What the realm's activity moves is not the price but the supply: a busier realm produces bigger batches of stock, so a quiet Den can simply be sold out.

The overflow matters for a subtle reason: because paid energy can sit above your cap, nothing that grants energy should ever clamp you back down to maximum. If you are holding overflow, spend it before claiming other energy rewards.

The Fence

The Fence converts stolen conveyances into gold. It is the counterpart to the Stables: steal a vehicle, decide whether it is heist fuel, salvage material or simply money, and if it is money, this is where it becomes money. Damage reduces what it pays, and repairing purely to raise a fence price is usually a net loss.
