NPC Opponents

Shadowrealm populates its jails, its PvP pool, and its Arena ladder with 74 named NPCs spread across all eight ranks, each with their own flavor, art, and roster combat stats. Their raw attack and defense values are tuned down at seed time (attack x0.6, defense x0.7) to sit within reach of a well-geared player at the matching rank, but for all but two of them (see the Story NPCs section) those numbers are roster flavor and rank-tier placement, not what actually steps into the fight: see "How NPC combat actually works" below for what really determines the odds. A handful of NPCs also carry a jail assignment, so they can be found (and broken out of) a specific city.

How NPC combat actually works

PvP does not fight the catalog stats shown below for any NPC except the two story bosses. Every other NPC's combat stats are built fresh per fight as a jittered mirror of the ATTACKER's own stats, scaled by a tier multiplier, so the same NPC name fights a stronger opponent harder and a weaker opponent easier rather than with any fixed numbers of its own.

The Arena never reads this catalog at all: its opponents are generated from a separate set of Arena-only tiers. And a jail Most Wanted or regular bust attempt is not a stat fight either: bust odds come from the sentence length, the city's difficulty tier, and any rescuer bonuses in play, never from an NPC's attack or defense.

Most Wanted

The toughest jailbreak targets in the game, one held in each of the realm's 4 cities, reserved for the boldest rescues.

Story NPCs

Bosses and prisoners tied to specific mission chapters rather than the general jail, PvP, or Arena pools. Of these, only Vael Thornn, the Iron Magister and The Widow of the Dark Citadel are scripted fights that use the exact stats listed for them; Brannoc the Oathbroken and Iskra Voss, the Last War-Mage are jailbreak-only prisoners, not story combat encounters.
